NEWS RELEASE
25 MAY 2017
Ebbsfleet Development Corporation has received outline planning permission for a 231,000 sq ft commercial scheme to support the Garden City development.
The scheme, on the Northfleet East enterprise zone site, will include commercial units and workshops to accommodate start-up and small and medium-sized businesses, and is expected to provide employment space for up to 700 new jobs. This scheme is designed to complement a proposed residential scheme for 628 homes on an adjacent site to the east, providing new residents with sustainable access to jobs.
The planning application for Northfleet East followed a very positive public consultation in early 2017, attracting strong interest from companies and commercial agents. It is set to be the first significant commercial development in the borough of Gravesham for 25 years.
Subject to detailed planning, it is hoped that the scheme would see the first premises available for occupation in 2019. The site’s Enterprise Zone status means that businesses taking up occupation before the end of March 2022 would benefit from business rates discounts worth up to £55,000 per year for five years.
